Open-Cell Spray Foam Insulation
The cells of the spray foam insulation can be either open or closed (as the name implies). But what does that really mean? Well, open-cell insulation from A&M Insulation has open cells. These open cells are not fully encapsulated on purpose.
The result is that the foam is a lot more flexible. For tough, tight spaces like a crawl space, open-cell can be ideal for optimal coverage. Open-cell insulation expands quite a bit as well, getting into all of the tough spaces.
Open-cell is also quite good when it comes to soundproofing an area. This is partially due to the fact that it can get into all the tough areas, including the spaces between the studs. There is also the matter of affordability, as open-cell insulation from A&M Insulation is quite affordable, especially when compared to closed-cell insulation.

Closed-Cell Spray Foam Insulation
Closed-cell insulation has – you guessed it – closed cells. What that means in terms of the spray foam is that you get a much more rigid product. Compared to open-cell, closed-cell is sealed off and creates a much sturdier quality of cell.
Where space is a concern, closed-cell insulation may be the best choice because it has a higher R-value which means that it is much more resistant to heat than open-cell. Being more resistant to heat also means being able to regulate temperature as well. Over a long period of time, that can help your HVAC system avoid some of the wear and tear that would typically come with heating and cooling your home.
Closed-cell spray foam insulation can also add to the structural integrity of the building. When you have insulation installed from A&M Insulation, having that added benefit can really make the entire endeavor worthwhile.
Keep in mind that closed-cell insulation is a bit more expensive than the open-cell option, but it can definitely be worth it. If you live in an area that gets a lot of water or moisture, closed-cell is resistant to water and the foam will never be damaged by water, either.
